Catalog sync

Automatically keep your Zonos and Shopify catalogs in sync.

Zonos enhances catalog management by supporting additional fields not available in Shopify, such as dimensions, restricted countries, and country-specific HS codes. These additional product-level details lead to more accurate landed cost calculations and an improved shopper experience. Syncing your Shopify and Zonos catalogs allows you to utilize these additional fields and ensure your products are always up-to-date, eliminating the need for manual exports, reformatting, and imports.

This guide will walk you through the steps to sync your catalogs and manage fields that Shopify does not support. When you sync your catalogs, new or updated products in Shopify will automatically map to your Zonos catalog based on the Shopify product's variant ID, linked to Zonos' product ID. Catalog items will sync from Shopify to Zonos but not from Zonos back to Shopify. The fields that will sync from Shopify to Zonos include variant ID (mapped to Zonos' product ID), SKU, name, description, image URL, price and currency, weight and weight unit, universal HS code, and country of origin.

This feature will not be available if you manage multiple Shopify stores from one Dashboard account.

Sync your catalogs

To sync your Shopify catalog with your Zonos Catalog:

  1. In your Shopify admin, go to Apps -> Zonos Duty and Tax -> Advanced Settings.
  2. Locate the Catalog Sync Settings section.
  3. Check the box next to Automatically sync products to Zonos.
  4. Click Save to sync your catalogs.

Upon successful syncing, a "Synced" badge will be displayed at the top of your Zonos Catalog.

Zonos Catalog override

When you opt to sync your catalogs, your Zonos Catalog, including all non-Shopify details (e.g., dimensions and restricted countries), will be permanently deleted and replaced by your Shopify catalog. We recommend exporting your Zonos Catalog before syncing to ensure you don't lose any data. You can then follow these steps to add your non-Shopify supported fields back to your Zonos Catalog items.

Zonos-specific product fields

Shopify does not support all the fields that Zonos does, such as dimensions, restricted countries, and country-specific HS codes. To leverage these fields for landed cost calculations, follow the steps below after syncing your catalogs:

  1. Go to Dashboard -> Products -> Catalog.
  2. Click Manage Catalog in the upper right-hand corner. Then, select Export products from the dropdown.
    1. If you choose 50 or fewer items from the Catalog table, your catalog will be downloaded directly from Dashboard. If you select Export all or more than 50 items, your CSV will be exported via email.
  3. Locate your CSV file directly in your downloads or via email.
  4. Update your products via CSV with dimensions, restricted countries, and any other Zonos-specific fields necessary for your needs.
    1. Ensure you follow the required CSV field formatting.
    2. Do not remove or modify your product IDs, as they are used by Zonos as the item key identifier to update your products effectively.
  5. Save your file as a CSV and upload your new file to Catalog by dragging and dropping your file or by clicking browse to find and select your file. Follow the prompts to review your uploaded products and correct fields if there are any errors.
  6. Click Import.

All new fields will be added to your existing products, ensuring your catalogs are fully synchronized and up-to-date. Any changes to your Shopify products will update the synced fields while ignoring Zonos-only fields.

Inclusive pricing

For Shopify merchants subscribed to inclusive pricing, this sync is required to display inclusive prices for your shoppers and ensure accurate calculations.

If your item key is set to SKU and you sync your catalogs, your item key will automatically switch to product ID to ensure effective syncing.
