Languages

Choose which languages shoppers can select in Checkout and Hello.

Checkout and Hello are translated into 20 languages, and by default a shopper can switch between all of them. If your business only sells into certain markets, or you need to avoid implying that you sell into a market you don't, you can narrow the list to the languages you want to offer.

Offered languages is a single shared setting: the languages you select are the languages a shopper can choose in both Checkout and Hello, so the two never fall out of sync.

Widget languages only

This setting controls the language of the Checkout and Hello widgets, not the rest of your storefront.

Select the languages you offer

  1. Go to Dashboard -> Settings -> Branding -> Branding settings.
  2. Under Languages, click the Offered languages field.
  3. Select each language you want to offer. Type to search the list, and click a selected language again to remove it.
  4. Click Save.

Your change applies to Checkout and Hello automatically—there is nothing to redeploy on your storefront.

Note: Leave Offered languages empty to offer every language Zonos supports. The field displays All languages when nothing is selected.

How your selection affects shoppers

  • Both Checkout and Hello list only the languages you offer in their language selector.
  • If a shopper's browser or location resolves to a language you don't offer, the widget falls back to English—or, if you don't offer English, to the first language in your selection.
  • Selecting exactly one language hides the language selector entirely in both Checkout and Hello, and every shopper sees that language.
  • Removing a language later takes effect the next time a shopper loads your storefront. Shoppers who had chosen the removed language fall back like any other unsupported language.

No. Offered languages is a shared setting, so Checkout and Hello always offer the same list.

The language selector is hidden in both Checkout and Hello, and every shopper sees that language.

No. Checkout and Hello translate their own widgets, along with any custom messages you have set up. The rest of your storefront is unaffected.
