Add the product identifiers the EU requires on low-value B2C shipments, for
each Zonos integration.
From November 1, 2026, the EU requires product identifiers (PIDs) on every item in business-to-consumer shipments entering the EU worth €150 or less. Shipments missing them can't clear EU customs. This guide shows where to add the identifiers for each Zonos integration.
Shopify merchants add the identifiers in Shopify, and Zonos picks them up automatically. For every other integration, add them in Zonos Catalog, or map them from your store's own fields if your plugin's settings offer custom mapping.

Shopify (Zonos Duty and Tax)
On each product variant in Shopify admin
Magento
Zonos Catalog, or attribute mapping in the Zonos plugin settings (steps below)
Add all three identifiers on each variant in Shopify admin. Zonos Duty and Tax picks them up at checkout; there's nothing to change in the app.
In Shopify admin, open Products and select a product.
Open the variant you want to update.
Enter your SKU in the SKU field.
Add the manufacturer number as a barcode with the type NS-PID (non-standardised manufacturer product identifier).
If the product has a UPC, EAN, GTIN or ISBN, add it as a second barcode with the matching type.
Save, and repeat for each variant.
Tips:
Put the manufacturer number in its own NS-PID barcode, not in the SKU or UPC field. Zonos sends each barcode type to customs as a different identifier.
A variant can hold several barcodes, but Zonos reads the first five. Keep the NS-PID and the product's main barcode among them.
Barcodes you entered before this change still work as the UPC/EAN. Only the manufacturer number is new.
Magento, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Miva and any other integration can add the identifiers in Zonos Catalog. Some plugins can also map them from your store's own fields. Use whichever fits how you already manage product data.
Find the product. Each variant is its own catalog item.
Fill in the three identifier fields:
SKU: your merchant product ID
Manufacturer product ID: the manufacturer number
GTIN: the UPC, EAN, GTIN or ISBN, if the product has one
Save, and repeat for each item.
For a large catalog, add the identifiers to a catalog upload file instead of editing items one at a time. Make sure each item's SKU in Zonos Catalog matches the SKU in your store exactly.
Catalog identifiers only reach your labels in two cases
Zonos uses the identifiers in Zonos Catalog only if:
You print shipping labels from Dashboard.
You print labels outside of Dashboard and call the Zonos API to get the product's catalog details before you request the label from your carrier. See Find a product for how to look up a catalog item.
If you print labels outside of Dashboard and don't call the Zonos API for catalog details, work with your label provider to include the identifiers when the label is printed.
Option 2: Custom mapping in your plugin settings
Some Zonos plugins can read the identifiers from fields you already keep in your store, such as a custom attribute. Open your Zonos plugin's settings and look for a custom or attribute mapping option. If it's there, map:
your SKU field to SKU
the field holding the manufacturer number to Manufacturer product ID
your UPC or EAN field to GTIN
If your plugin doesn't offer custom mapping, use Zonos Catalog. Choose your platform for its setup steps.
Important: Attribute mapping for the manufacturer number and GTIN requires the Zonos Checkout module (zonos/checkout) version 2.3.40 or later. To check your installed version, run composer show zonos/checkout. For install steps, see the Magento integration guide.
The Magento plugin reads the manufacturer number and GTIN from product attributes. If your products don't have attributes for them yet, create them first.
1. Create the attributes
Skip any attributes you already have.
Go to Stores > Attributes > Product and click Add New Attribute.
Set Default Label to a name you'll recognize, such as ns_pid for the manufacturer number or gtin for the barcode.
Set Catalog Input Type for Store Owner to Text Field and Values Required to No.
Click Save Attribute, then repeat for the second attribute.
2. Add the attributes to your attribute sets
Go to Stores > Attributes > Attribute Set and open the set your products use.
Drag each new attribute from Unassigned Attributes into a group, such as Product Details.
Click Save. Repeat for every attribute set your EU products use.
3. Fill in the values on your products
Open each product in Catalog > Products and enter its manufacturer number and GTIN. To set values on many products at once, select them in the product grid and choose Update attributes from the Actions menu.
4. Map the attributes in the Zonos settings
Go to Stores > Configuration > Zonos > Zonos Duty and Tax.
Scroll to the attribute mapping fields (Brand, HS code, Length and so on).
Set GTIN / EAN / UPC to your barcode attribute, for example gtin.
Set Manufacturer Product ID to your manufacturer number attribute, for example ns_pid.

What's required
Each product needs up to three identifiers. Two are always required; the S-PID is required only when the product has one.
