How it works
Zonos Classify offers three classification modes to match the quality and completeness of your product descriptions. Base mode works with the information you provide, while Boost and Ultra supplement your input with publicly available external data retrieved in real-time—giving Classify more context to make informed decisions and deliver more precise, confident classifications.
Classification modes
| Level | Processing Time | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Base | < 1 second | Relies solely on the product information you provide. Best for detailed, complete product descriptions with sufficient context. |
| Boost | 1-3 seconds | Supplements your product information with publicly available external data retrieved in real-time. Ideal for vague or incomplete descriptions like apparel names ("SL 72"), brand names ("Armani"), or basic manufacturer numbers. |
| Ultra | 3+ seconds | Performs deeper research and gathers additional context before classifying. Perfect for highly technical products, specialized terminology, or complex part numbers like "H-516-6A" that require expert knowledge. Ultra dramatically increases classification confidence for challenging descriptions. |
When to use Boost or Ultra
Some product descriptions lack the context needed for accurate classification—such as abbreviated names ("Pro Series"), manufacturer codes ("WX-4427"), or technical part numbers ("H-516-6A"). In these cases, you'll often see a low confidence score, signaling insufficient information.
Boost and Ultra modes solve this by enriching descriptions with real-time web research, eliminating the manual effort of contacting suppliers or researching products yourself. This added context enables more accurate and confident classifications without extra work on your end.
Higher Classify modes aren't necessary for every use case—it depends on your product data quality. If your descriptions are already detailed and specific, Base may actually yield more accurate results. Boost and Ultra are most effective when descriptions are sparse, technical, or lack essential detail.
Important considerations
Boost and Ultra modes deliver higher accuracy through real-time data enrichment, which requires additional processing time and costs more than Base classifications. For optimal efficiency, use Base for detailed product descriptions and reserve Boost or Ultra for sparse, technical, or incomplete data where the enhanced research provides the most value.
