Shipments

Comprehensive shipment management and duty/fee tracking for U.S. orders

VERIFIED ACCOUNTS ONLY

Once Zonos receives clearance data for your shipments, they are automatically logged in Dashboard Lite with complete order details and status information. The Shipments view provides full visibility into your international shipping activity with powerful search and filtering capabilities.

The data we receive to calculate duties and fees varies depending on the information your post provides to us. By viewing the order details for any shipment, you can see exactly which fields we received and which we didn't. For any missing fields, you'll also see what values were and weren't supplied to calculate duties and fees, such as HS codes, item names, or country of origin information.

Shipment information

What you'll see for each shipment:

  • Order breakdown: Item details (name, quantity, price, country of origin, HS code) and declared value
  • Cost details: Shipping costs, duties, and any additional fees
  • Date: The date the shipment is projected to arrive in the U.S.

HS codes and duty rate assignment

When calculating duties, we use provided HS codes and country of origin to determine the correct duty rate. If no HS code is provided, we apply standard duty rates based on country of origin.

When an HS code is provided, we check it for coherency with the item description. If an HS code doesn't align with the item name—for example, an electronics code assigned to a clothing item—we'll evaluate it based on our confidence score:

  • High confidence: If our coherency check has sufficient confidence in a recommended HS code, we'll use that code instead
  • Low confidence: If we can't confidently determine the correct code, we'll disregard the provided code and apply standard duty rates based on country of origin

HS code requirements

  • Minimum 4 digits required (2-digit codes are ignored)
  • Must include a matching item description
  • Without valid codes and descriptions, we apply standard duty rates based on country of origin

Important for U.S. postal imports

Standard IEEPA duty rates based on country of origin apply unless the HS code qualifies for:

  • Duty-free treatment
  • Free trade agreement (FTA) benefits
  • Additional tariffs or sanctions under IEEPA

To ensure accurate duty calculations for items with special treatment, provide complete HS codes (minimum 4 digits) with item descriptions in your shipment data.

You can verify which HS code was used by reviewing the item details on the order page in your shipment.

To find HS codes for your items, use our Item Quoter tool.

Search and filter options

Find shipments quickly with powerful filtering:

  • Search: Find by order number, customer name, or email
  • Amount filters: Is equal to, is between, is greater than, is less than
  • Service level: Filter by express, standard, or economy shipping
  • Destination: Filter by country or region
  • Date range: View shipments from specific time periods

How do I access my shipments?

Navigate to Shipments in Dashboard Lite. Once Zonos receives clearance data, your shipments will automatically appear here with order details.

What information is included in each shipment?

Each shipment includes the status, destination country, order breakdown with item names, HS codes, country of origin, declared value, duties, fees, and projected arrival date. Click on any shipment to view the full breakdown.

When will my shipments appear in Dashboard Lite?

Shipments appear in Dashboard Lite after Zonos receives clearance data from your carrier or integration. There may be a delay of several days between when your parcel ships and when clearance data is transmitted to us, as posts and carriers prepare and send shipment data in batches. This means orders may not immediately appear in your Dashboard after shipping. The timing depends on your postal operator's data transmission schedule.

Why does my shipment show $0 duties?

Some items qualify for duty-free treatment under U.S. customs regulations, which means no duties are charged on those products. Duty-free eligibility can vary based on the product type, HS code classification, and country of origin. The rates you see in Dashboard Lite reflect the duty calculations that applied at the time of clearance based on the item information and HS codes provided. If you're unsure whether your products should be duty-free, you can use Item Quoter to check current duty rates for your items.

How do I know if the HS code for my item is correct?

We're unable to provide definitive answers on HS code accuracy, as you have the most detailed knowledge of your products. However, you can use our Item Quoter tool for free duty estimates and HS code suggestions to support your compliance efforts. The tool uses AI and provides helpful starting points based on item descriptions, though it may not always be correct for items that could be classified multiple ways depending on context.

For official or highly accurate HS code determinations, we recommend consulting with a customs broker who can provide expert classification for your specific products.

You can also verify whether your provided HS code was used or ignored by checking the item details on the order page in Dashboard Lite.

Why isn't my shipment showing up?

Shipments appear in Dashboard Lite after Zonos receives clearance data from your carrier or integration. There may be a delay between when you create a shipping label and when clearance data is transmitted. If a shipment is missing after one week, verify your integration is configured correctly or contact Zonos support.
