Zonos and Canada Post

Prepay duties on your Canada Post shipments to the U.S. and select EU destinations, and keep them moving.

Canada Post shipments to the U.S. and select EU destinations now have to meet new import rules before they ship:

  • United States: a U.S. executive order requires duties to be prepaid on all postal shipments into the U.S. valued at 2,500 USD or less.
  • Select EU destinations, starting November 4, 2026: Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Germany, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Italy, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, and Slovakia
    • Some destination posts now require duties and taxes to be prepaid on certain shipments. Your Verified Account covers this: on Postal DDP (PDDP) shipments, Zonos bills you the duties, taxes, and fees, then pays them on your behalf.
    • From November 1, 2026, the EU requires product identifiers (PIDs) on customs declarations when a business sells to a consumer (B2C) and the shipment is valued at 150 EUR or less. Your Verified Account covers this too: add your PIDs to your Catalog, and Zonos sends them with your shipments.

Canada Post has partnered with Zonos to provide two compliant shipping solutions, and both cover every destination above.

Shipping to an EU country that isn't listed above? You can continue shipping to the rest of the EU through Canada Post as you do today. You'll receive a Declaration ID for these shipments, but they aren't processed through either solution. Zonos doesn't bill duties, taxes, and fees or transmit PIDs for these destinations. See Canada Post's information for any of these shipments. Shipments to territories, including French territories, don't need a Declaration ID and don't go through Zonos.

Zonos app

For individuals and small businesses who ship occasionally

The Zonos app lets you calculate and pay what's owed before visiting the post office: duties for the U.S., and duties and taxes for EU destinations that require them. It generates the Declaration ID you need to ship, and if you're a business selling to a consumer in the EU, it collects the product identifiers too. Use it for gifts and documents as well.

Key features:

  • Generate Declaration IDs and QR codes for the counter
  • AI-powered duty calculation using item photos
  • Pay in local currency with local payment methods
  • Available in 18 languages
  • Free to use — no account or monthly fee

Verified Accounts

For merchants and businesses who ship regularly

Verified Accounts automate duty collection and payment, making it easy to stay compliant with no manual work.

With a Verified Account:

  • Every shipment includes a Declaration ID
  • Shipping labels print without delays
  • Zonos invoices you for the duties on each shipment, plus taxes and applicable fees on PDDP shipments to the select EU destinations, and pays them on your behalf
  • The product identifiers saved in your Catalog are sent with each B2C shipment to the select EU destinations
  • View real-time reports and shipment-level breakdowns
  • Use classification and landed cost tools in the Zonos Dashboard
  • No subscription fee — only pay duties and applicable fees, plus taxes on EU shipments

To keep shipping with Canada Post, choose the solution that fits your business. Both options ensure your shipments meet U.S. and EU requirements and clear without delays.
