White-label

White-label Checkout

Build branded checkout experiences for your merchants using Zonos technology.

Zonos offers a white-label solution that enables carriers, postal operators, and other partners to provide branded checkout experiences powered by Zonos technology. This solution provides international shipping, duty calculation, and compliance solutions to your merchants under your own brand.

The Zonos white-label checkout offering is available on Shopify, WooCommerce, and BigCommerce.

How white-label works

Zonos maintains a standardized feature set that can be customized within defined parameters. You control branding elements like colors, logos, and language, while Zonos ensures the compliance, transparency, and conversion-optimized flows.

Standard features (all platforms)

All white-label implementations include the following features:

  • Duty and tax calculation – Accurate landed cost calculation for international orders based on destination country, product classification, and current tariff rates
  • Discount support – Merchants can apply discount codes at checkout that automatically recalculate duties and taxes
  • Shipment messaging customization – Configure delivery timelines, carrier names, and shipping notifications that display to shoppers
  • Profile configuration – Set up merchant shipping profiles including origin locations, preferred carriers, and default handling preferences
  • Shipping buffers – Add percentage-based buffers to shipping costs to account for margin protection or handling fees
  • Rate charts – Configure flat-rate or tiered shipping costs by destination country or weight ranges

The following features are not available in white-label implementations:

  • Catalog management – Product catalog syncing and tools for managing product attributes like weights, dimensions, HS codes, and country of origin
  • Inclusive pricing – The ability to show all-in prices with duties and taxes built into product prices
  • Order importing – Bulk order import functionality for retrospective processing

Platform-specific capabilities

Shopify

Shopify is the only platform that includes live rating—real-time carrier rate calculation at checkout when using Zonos rating services. If you don't use Zonos live rating, you'll need to implement your own rating API or provide rate charts.

The white-label solution is built using the Shopify design library for seamless integration within the Shopify admin.

WooCommerce and BigCommerce

WooCommerce and BigCommerce white-label solutions include all standard features. Rating functionality is not available—partners must implement their own rating API or provide rate charts.

Customization options

You can customize colors, language, logos (with font styling for the logo area), and which settings are visible to merchants. Zonos maintains standard formatting, functionality, timelines, and user experience architecture to preserve design patterns that drive conversion based on cross-border transaction data.

Custom design requests that compromise user experience or compliance may not be approved. Zonos maintains expertise in cross-border checkouts, and design preferences don't always align with best practices for international transactions.

Label printing and fulfillment

For orders with Zonos's Landed Cost Guarantee, proper label printing and customs documentation are required to maintain compliance and ensure accurate duty and tax billing.

White-label partners typically print labels within their own branded systems rather than Zonos Dashboard. To support this, partners must complete Zonos certification to ensure labels and customs documentation meet compliance specifications.

Technical requirements:

  • Third-party billing of duties and taxes to Zonos configured at the carrier level
  • Tracking numbers synchronized to Zonos after label creation
  • Order changes (cancellations, modifications) updated in Zonos for accurate billing
  • Commercial invoices generated with proper tax IDs, HS codes, country of origin, and product values

Partners should contact Zonos support early in the implementation process to begin certification and configure proper label printing workflows.

Technical requirements

Authentication

You'll need to implement an OAuth authentication flow to connect merchants to your white-labeled solution. This ensures secure validation that the merchant installing the app is authorized to use your services.

During planning, we'll determine:

  • How you'll authenticate merchants at installation
  • What merchant data needs to be exchanged during the OAuth handshake
  • How you'll handle authorization token refresh and expiration

Data integration

For postal operators, Zonos receives data from the Universal Postal Union (UPU) and works with you to ensure accurate service offerings and delivery expectations are reflected in the checkout experience.

If you're not using Zonos's live rating capabilities, you'll need to provide your own rating API that returns shipping costs based on origin, destination, and package details, or supply rate charts for flat or tiered pricing structures. Your rating service must respond within acceptable timeframes to maintain checkout performance.

Implementation process

Before implementation begins, we'll work with you to:

  1. Confirm which platform(s) you need (Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce)
  2. Define your branding requirements (colors, logos, language)
  3. Establish your authentication approach
  4. Determine rating strategy (Zonos rating vs. your own services)
  5. Set implementation timeline expectations

Zonos reviews all design implementations to ensure:

  • Checkout flows maintain proven conversion patterns
  • International shipping information is presented clearly
  • Duty and tax disclosures meet compliance requirements
  • The user experience remains intuitive

Each implementation undergoes testing to verify that authentication, duty and tax calculations, shipping cost retrieval, branding, and merchant setup flows work correctly.
