Place the Hello widget at a corner, or set exact pixel offsets for desktop
and mobile.
Hello can float in one of the four corners of the page, or at a custom distance
from that corner. You configure this separately for desktop and mobile in
Dashboard, so the widget can sit where it fits your storefront layout best.
Alongside each location control, Dashboard provides Desktop float placement
and Mobile float placement for that viewport. Each has two modes:
Default
Default keeps the usual insets for the selected corner. You do not enter
pixel offsets. Use this when the standard corner spacing is enough.
Custom
Custom lets you set exact whole-number pixel distances from the edges of the
chosen corner. Offset field labels follow the active corner (for example,
distance from the bottom edge and from the right edge for a bottom-right
placement).
To save a Custom placement:
Set Desktop location or Mobile location to the corner you want.
Set Desktop float placement or Mobile float placement to Custom.
Enter whole-number pixel offsets for both edges.
Click Save.
Custom float placement needs whole-number pixel offsets for both edges. If
either offset is empty or not a whole number, Dashboard will not save that
Custom placement. Leaving the mode on Default does not require offset
fields.
Zero and negative offsets are allowed if you enter them. Hello applies the
values you save; Dashboard does not rewrite them to a minimum or maximum for
you.
Configure desktop and mobile separately. Setting Custom placement on desktop
does not change mobile, and clearing Custom on one viewport does not clear the
other.
After you save:
Floating Hello appears at the configured corner and insets for that viewport.
Peek messages continue to expand from the side that matches the placement
(left vs right).
If you set Custom float placement for a viewport, Hello floats at those
pixel insets for that viewport. It does not stay inline at an on-page anchor
element.
Default float placement only means Hello uses the usual insets for the
chosen corner. It does not, by itself, turn inline anchoring on or off. Inline
placement is a separate integration concern: in Dashboard, configure Hello
anchor element under Behavior when you want Hello attached to a page
element (typically on desktop). Leave float placement on Default when you
want standard corner insets and you are not using Custom offsets.
Most merchants configure float placement in Dashboard. If you manage Hello
settings through the API, optional desktop and mobile placement overrides can
include a corner anchor plus horizontal and vertical pixel offsets. When those
overrides are set, floating Hello honors them the same way Dashboard Custom
placement does. Prefer Dashboard for day-to-day changes unless your integration
already updates Hello settings by API.

Make sure Hello is installed on your site and that you can open Hello settings in Dashboard.

Start by picking the corner Hello should use on each device type:
These controls set the corner baseline. If you leave float placement on Default, Hello uses the usual insets for that corner.
